Iran to perform fetal surgery in international congress on obstetrics, gynecology

TEHRAN — Fetal surgery will be performed during the 12 international congress on obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Shahla Chaichian who is in charge of scientific program of the congress has said.

Chaichian said fetal surgery is a highly complex surgical intervention to repair birth defects in the womb that requires the most expert care for both mother and unborn baby, Tasnim reported on Friday.

Chaichian also noted that the latest achievement on the subject of the non-invasive procedures and laparoscopy will be presented in the congress.

The event has been held biennially for 22 years and this year several subjects including uterine polyp, breast cancer, infertility, fatal surgery, non-invasive procedures, etc. will be reviewed.

Mentioning the submission of 700 abstracts, Chaichian pointed out that experts in different areas of medicine will give presentations during the congress.

“If an opportunity comes along during the event we will show a live surgery done by a well-known surgeon from another country for the participants,” Chaichian highlighted.

The 12 international obstetrics and gynecology congress is being held in Tehran from October 8 to 11 in attendance of medical experts worldwide.
